Fruits, Veggies and Food Photography Competition results July 2020
Hi Everyone, thank you for submitting your images to our Fruits, Veggies and Food Photography Competition
To help us choose the winning image I’ve asked my colleague Ania Elias.
The winning shot was awarded to Jane Atkins – CONGRATS!!!
I took the photo in my living room, by the patio doors. I had a vase of white roses already and I added some lemons as the sunlight coming through the window was so beautiful and the colours all seemed to work together.
A few words from Ania: “The image that caught my attention was ‘Jane-Atkins-1.jpg’, and the beautiful use of light and shadow. I like the strong light going across the bowl, revealing what’s inside it. It takes practise to get it right and the author of the image managed to do it well! The colour palette is also so elegant.
When I got into food photography, using direct sunlight was a no-no, but I’m so glad we’ve stopped listening to rule setters. If not this image would most probably never have happened. It’s why I’d always encourage anyone to try and break rules, push out of the boat and try new things.
I also liked one more image of a girl eating strawberries (Gina Holt _DSC2181.jpg) and this is my runner up. I chose it because of the natural feel of this image and I love the expression on the girl’s face. It evoked emotion and that summer feeling of a relaxed day outdoors.”
Roland – One of my favourites was an image from Ivan Dzhongov – I really like the strong contrast and the colours, that Ivan tried to style his shot, the choice of background. Nice! Thanks and Congrats!
Jane will receive a £50 voucher, Gina Holt and Ivan Dzhongov will receive £25 gift vouchers.
I am sorry we couldn’t publish all the images we’ve received – it was a lot! Congrats Everyone!
