Introduction to Product Photography

During this one day course we will look at the principles of Product, Jewellery and Still Life Photography. It is a great opportunity to enhance your photography and lighting skills, under the guidance of our experienced tutors.

In this fun, engaging and informative workshop we will also be sharing many tips and tricks of the trade. The lighting techniques you will learn will enable you to capture high quality product images for commercial and editorial use.

At the end of the day not only you will gain confidence for shooting at home or a studio environment, but you will also walk away with some great images for your portfolio or website.

Great photography experience

Our product photography course normally runs from 10.00am to 4.00pm with around 30min for lunch to let you rest and digest all that you have learnt.

During the product photography course will cover:

  • best lighting effects and set-ups for products photography
  • how to style a product shoot and compose your photos effectively for print, website, Instagram, and other platforms
  • creating a workspace, how to prepare and style flatlays
  • backgrounds and props – choice and positioning
  • how to control and balance the light
  • how to use softboxes, reflectors and diffusers
  • best camera controls and settings for product photography
  • use of different camera lenses to achieve best results
  • introduction to macro photography
  • angles, viewpoint, exposure and colour correction
  • how to avoid shadows and get perfect shots on white background
  • how to photograph objects on reflective surfaces
  • the art of good photography composition

you will also learn

  • how to get started in product photography
  • shooting for stock and image libraries
  • how to build great portfolio and promote your work

There will be plenty of opportunities to shoot, so if you are an artist or business owner and would like to learn while photographing your own products, clothing, or jewellery items please bring them with you.

About Katerina Iacovides

Katerina is a photographer who specializes in product and portrait photography.

With a background in graphic design Katerina is an experienced photographer and re-toucher.

Her work appearing in many magazines such as Trend Prive Magazine, Art of the Portrait Magazine, Elle Magazine, Professional Jewellers Magazine, Dark Beauty Magazine, Kultur Magazine, IMIRAGE Magazine, Boutique Magazine and Attire Accessories Magazine.

Her freelancing has allowed her to shoot a vast range of imagery which includes fashion, fashion accessories, clothing, homeware, cosmetics, packaging, food and jewellery.

Working with DSLR Photography Courses, Katerina has trained photographers working for amazing brands such as Russel and Bromley, Fair Trade, Historic Places, Harvey Nichols, B&Q, Gems of London and The Design Museum.
