Description
The Art of Travel Photography — course in London
Have you ever returned from an amazing holiday only to feel slightly disappointed by your photographs?
Perhaps the views looked breathtaking, the streets were full of colour and life, and everything felt exciting while you were there — but somehow your pictures did not capture the same feeling.
Our Travel Photography Course will help you change that.
Spend a practical and inspiring day learning how to photograph the people, places, landscapes and small details that make every journey memorable.
We’ll begin at The Travel Cafe in central London with introductions, camera setup and a clear explanation of the techniques we’ll use during the day.
We’ll then head outside and use London as our travel destination, practising the same skills you can use on a city break, family holiday or once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

What you’ll learn
Travel photography brings together many different types of photography.
One moment you may be photographing a wide landscape or impressive building. A few minutes later, you may notice an interesting person, a busy market, a beautiful meal or a tiny detail that captures the atmosphere of the place.
During the course, you’ll learn how to approach all these situations with greater confidence.
We will cover:
- How to set up your camera before a trip
- Aperture, shutter speed and ISO
- How to move away from Auto mode
- How to work quickly in changing situations
- How to photograph people naturally and respectfully
- Street photography and capturing everyday life
- Landscapes, cityscapes and architecture
- Portraits with softly blurred backgrounds
- How to freeze movement or create intentional motion blur
- How to work in bright, cloudy and lower-light conditions
- Focus settings and how to achieve sharper photographs
- Composition, framing and finding stronger viewpoints
- How to use lines, layers, reflections and foreground interest
- How to photograph the small details that tell a bigger story
- Lens choice and what equipment is genuinely useful for travel
- How to travel light without feeling unprepared
Most importantly, you’ll learn to slow down, observe what is happening around you and create a more complete visual story of a place.
